FLATIRON, Manhattan (WABC) -- A new art installation in New York City that transports viewers more than 3,000 miles away to Dublin will temporarily shut down Tuesday to address some bad behavior. The installation, called the Portal, features two identical sculptures with a visual live stream connecting the two cities. It was unveiled last Wednesday next to the famed Flatiron Building.

May 13 (UPI) -- A California man ordered by his city to conceal the boat parked in his driveway with a fence hired his artist neighbor to paint a photo-realistic image of the vessel in an act of rebellious compliance. Etienne Constable said the boat he uses for fishing was regularly parked in his Seaside driveway for about four years before he received a letter from the city informing him of a municipal code requiring boats and trailers to be "screened on the side and front by a six-foot-high fence." Constable said his initial reaction to the letter was anger,...

  • NASA's Stunning New Simulation Sends You Diving Into a Black Hole

(NASA Goddard) It's a question that has dogged humanity since we first learned about black holes a little over a century ago: What the heck would it be like to plunge beyond the point of no return? We still don't have an answer, but a new supercomputer simulation is the best guess we have, based on current data. "People often ask about this, and simulating these difficult-to-imagine processes helps me connect the mathematics of relativity to actual consequences in the real Universe," says astrophysicist Jeremy Schnittman of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. "So I simulated two different scenarios, one where...
  • KASSAM: The Met Gala Theme – J.G. Ballard’s Garden of Time – Is Perfect to Highlight The Barbarism Around Us.

When J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story, The Garden of Time, was announced as the theme for this year’s Met Gala several months ago, I printed off a copy. It seemed oddly thoughtful for such a plastic event. In all likelihood, it was an entirely superficial decision. J.G. Ballard’s garden has flowers. Flowers are pretty. Time is crazy. That sort of thing. But whether the organizers know it or not, The Garden of Time is the perfect choice for this year’s Met Gala, which takes place just a short walk from Columbia University. It’s a story about Count Axel and his wife,...

ABC News President Kim Godwin stepped down Sunday night following an investigation into her management of her network. The overseer of the network, Debra O’Connell, opened a corporate investigation into Godwin and other senior executives over the growing frustration among staffers, vacant top positions and the drop in ratings at its prominent program, “Good Morning America.” Several people alleged Godwin dedicated more time to her profile than creating success in the news division, and that her mismanagement “shocked” O’Connell, WSJ reported. “I have decided to retire from broadcast journalism,” Godwin said in an email to staff Sunday night, according to...

Kim Godwin announced on Sunday evening that she was stepping down from her role as president ABC News — and retiring, effective immediately. Godwin, who in 2021 became the first black person to run a broadcast television news division, resigned after corporate restructuring “stripped away much of her management autonomy,” The Wall Street Journal reported. “I have decided to retire from broadcast journalism,” she said in a lengthy statement to company staff. “Anyone who’s passionate about what we do knows there’s no other business like it, so this was not an easy or quick decision. But after considerable reflection, I’m...
  • Snow White’s Evil Queen Being Played by Transgender Biological Male at Disney World Resort in Florida (VIDEO)

A transgender biological male is playing Snow White’s Evil Queen at Walt Disney World Resort’s Wilderness Lodge in Florida. One family who went and filmed the character said they had paid $300 for a meet-and-greet photo opportunity after their themed dinner at Story Book Dining at Artist Point — only to be greeted by what the father referred to as a drag queen. The father spoke to the Disney news site That Park Place, which broke the news that a man is playing a female character. The upset parent explained, “While we were waiting for the desserts to come out...

Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms will no longer co-host “The NFL Today” on CBS. James Brown, Nate Burleson and Bill Cowher will remain on the show, and will be joined this season by former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan and former Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, according to the New York Post. Brown, Cowher, Esiason and Simms were all at the end of their current contracts this year, leading many — including the Post — to speculate that changes might be in the wind for the show’s hosting lineup. Esiason will remain as co-host on WFAN’s...

What turned me on to rock/pop music? It was hearing this song in the last episode of Patrick Macgoohan's The Prisoner. Only later did I see the song featured in the first world telecommunications broadcast the Beatles had done in 1967. Their message for the world was LOVE. And though it did not stop the Vietnam War and usher in world peace, it still affected me and the idealistic youth of my generation. So this is Count Vlad giving the song back with a little twist at the end.
  • THE US AID PACKAGE TO UKRAINE IS TO PAY FOR A PRIOR SECRET DELIVERY OF WEAPONS

The aid package is to pay for a prior secret delivery of weapons. This closes the account with Ukraine. No more weapons unless Ukraine will pay for them. Portrait of Fräulein Lieser', which the Austrian modernist artist started in 1917, sold to an unknown buyer at an auction in Vienna yesterday. The portrait of a young woman was one of Klimt's last works, as the artist died in early 1918 after suffering from a stroke, meaning the painting has small unfinished areas. The Jewish Lieser family, who had commissioned the painting, received the artwork unfinished, but soon after were forced to flee Austria amid the rise of Hitler and antisemitism.

  • Taylor Swift course now offered at Harvard, other universities: Can’t wait to pay for these student loans

    BizPac Review ^ | April 22, 2024 | Tom Tillison
There’s no denying that Taylor Swift dominates pop culture, but the fact that her politics align with the left, which has a stranglehold on pop culture, helps explain why colleges and universities all across the nation are featuring classes on the singer — hell, even Harvard is offering a class dedicated to Swift. And we wonder how an entire generation can be so uninformed. But make no mistake, the driving force is Taylor Swift’s politics, with the Trump-hating singer proving to be a great platform to further advance the prescribed left-wing narrative. “We will learn how to study fan culture,...
  • The Alien Whiteness of Scarlett Johansson

    Springer ^ | December 4, 2019 | Sean Redmond
Taking up a discourse of idealised whiteness in conjunction with star theory, Sean Redmond frames white female stardom as a privileged yet restrictive state. Locating Johansson within such a construction of stardom, Redmond looks to how her idealised white star image as resolved through her roles in Her, Under the Skin and Ghost in the Shell is simultaneously recognisable and alienating within these texts. As idealised white star, Johansson traverses the cinematic universe, moving with privileged access into roles, spaces and intimacies laid open for her. Yet as an unobtainable and non-reproductive idol, Johansson is also alienating, an embodiment of...
  • When will Biden be Impeached?

Is there a deadline to impeach Biden? Have the Republicans been working for impeachment as much as for funding Ukraine? Will there be impeachment flags flying like there were Ukrainian flags flying? I suspect the Republicans have the evidence of Biden and Hunter's corruption, but what are they doing with it? Are they planning to present it the day after the election? That doesn't seem smart. Trump has his court problems, but does Biden have any? If not, why not? Why isn't he being sued up and down block by the Republicans? Inquiring minds like to know.
  • Go See "Civil War." The leftist film reviewers have it wrong. It could go down just like this.

Watch the movie carefully. The president isn't who all the leftist reviewers claim it is. (Hint: it isn't Trump.) I thought the ending was very well done.
