There are only 3 Justices on SCOTUS that are not political hacks.

I'd agree with that sentiment, after years of reading both Oral Arguments, and the decisions themselves.Not only are many of the justices overtly political, they are emotional. Sotomeyer heads up the list of particularly the latter condition. It is obvious that she is driven primarily by emotion. It's sad to watch. She should never have been anything more than a lowly law clerk.
