There can only be a consensus, it seems, because it matters so little in US politics That’s also why it didn’t work as a bargaining tool vis a vis border policy. Open borders mattered much more to the powers that be than Ukraine.
The Defense Industry needs support. That seems to be a lesson from this war, and one that is not specific to Ukraine at all. I doubt there are many here on FR who will deny that.
More, the global defense infrastructure is getting bulked up, far more than is specific to Ukraine. The Russian invasion kicked off this global buildup, but the real money is being spent on the national militaries.
The “merchants of death” have had a few banner years, and it seems this will continue. Again, to a vastly greater degree than Ukraines actual needs. The whole world is rearming.
They blew well passed junk bonds at this point.
It stemmed the ruble’s slide for a few months but it is drifting lower again in the face of higher energy prices when it should be strengthening.
It was higher for a period of time at the outset.
I posted as much, said it looks like he is effectively getting around the sanctions. Things are going Putin’s way. Then the bills came due. The Indians won’t let him repatriate and it seems his evadiong the sanctions partners all screwed him in some form or fashion. The ruble got crushed, he jacked up rates-things stabilized. It’s drifting lower again recently.
>>>>Why are they still sending money to Ukraine?
That was supposed to be annexed by mighty Russia in 4-6 weeks going on 2 1/2 yrs ago.<<<<
Well, in that case, since they’re doing so well, I know “Honest Abe” Zelensky will send our money back.
$34 trillion in debt and projected to rise to $54 trillion in 8-10 years. Annual interest payments will take a huge chunk of the federal budget, and money printing will accelerate in order to keep up. Then hyperinflation, then absolute misery. After another 100 million third-worlder’s and terrorists waltz in, chaos and the end of civilization.
LOL, the opposition to these bills was bipartisan, too.
I was on FR for many years, while I was a US resident.
And to this day my assets are in the US, and my income derive from US sources.
Besides which my wife is American, and my children as well, and the kids reside in the US. I have excellent reasons to be concerned about you.
It IS one world, and it has been that for at least 500 years, since actual world trade began. You yourself are a product of globalism - if it weren’t so you would, today, be herding sheep on some European moor. Ignore it if you like, but that is just perpetuating your own ignorance.
On your end, the problem is simply that you don’t listen. Or can’t listen. You are full of a burning rage, such that all you can do is breathe fire through a one-way valve.
The good news is that Cornyn's getting primaried in 2026.
All this for a damn flag?
Well, it does. That’s why the same people who oppose Ukraine aid complain about the Chinese military buildup, etc.
It is incoherent, but par for the course in these emotional tantrums.
I believe Trump could end this war. He’s a negotiator.
Ukraine has, under command from evil forces in the West, attacked ethnic Russians in their east.
Ukriane probably will have to cede three eastern provinces. No reason to fight WWIII. It’s just reality.
Then Russia, the United States and everyone else can enjoy profits and inexpensive energy.
You have to give to get. Trump knows that.
Yup.
And nothing for our border.
But it’s super important™®© to the Democrats to secure someone else’s borders.
95.3 Billion?
What happened to the 61 Billion? I guess the Senate loves the Zman more than the HOuse.
Spain surrendered on 11 march 2004 in Madrid.
Sit down.
Spain surrendered when Franco died.
True.
Flooding the world with oil will almost instantly return peace and prosperity to earth.
It will send Russia and Iran back to skid row.
That is the solution.
The reality is the election is peace and prosperity vs war and impoverishment.
Anything to avoid listening to reason.
As I’ve done so often, I recommend a spiritual retreat, to help gain perspective and direction.
