Decidedly unneighborly and unfriendly of Texas. These motivated entrepreneurs were trying to meet a demand with a supply.
Really, though, how many got away in the literally millions coming in? Including the trucks with containers that are only spot checked (also ones across the Ambassador Bridge on the Michigan border. The average every day is 10,000 crossings.

The M249 is a light machine gun, NOT a rifle. Also NFA Tile II, so not exactly on the shelf at the local Cabelas.
