Joining Forces? President Trump and Ron DeSantis Meet Privately in Florida
The Gateway Pundit ^ | April 28, 2024 | Cullen Linebargar

Posted on 04/28/2024 2:45:49 PM PDT by Macho MAGA Man

Both Trump and DeSantis spoke on friendly terms, according to the Post’s sources, and DeSantis agreed to help the 45th President. Trump’s team is hopeful such assistance will include the Florida governor helping raise money for the campaign, which is lagging behind Biden in fundraising.

The meeting will also produce renewed speculation that Trump is looking at tapping DeSantis as his running mate. Trump previously suggested that the Florida governor was on the list of people he was considering.

This seems like a long shot considering a good number of Trump’s staff still despise Ron DeSantis. After initial calm, DeSantis stirred up a hornet’s nest again in February when he slammed Trump’s campaign team in a private call with his supporters.

“I think he’s got people in his inner circle who were part of our orbit years ago that we fired, and I think some of that is they just have an ax to grind,” DeSantis said.

Chris LaCivita, a top aide to Trump, responded by calling DeSantis a “sad little man.”

“This is one of those rules that many people get wrong. There actually is nothing in the U.S. Constitution that prevents candidates for President and Vice President who live in the same state from running together. As a practical matter, it might be a bad idea, since presidential tickets are often put together to create geographic diversity. But, having two from the same state is permissible.”

From the Palm Beach Post and confirmed elsewhere. Unless I’m wrong Trump could pick Ron for VP.

Absolutely correct. There’s an obscure circumstance where a close electoral vote could precipitate a challenge by the other side. Trump could easily change his residence to New Jersey.

Choosing a bitter rival, often the runner-up, to unify the party is a long-standing tradition. Hence Reagan and Bush, JFK and LBJ. That Trump wasted so much time stomping on them post-primary instead of reconciling and smoothing over their differences is exceptional. Common in pro wrestling narratives, unusual in big league politics.

Trump wants DeSantis voters. Plain and simple. They’re likely working out a deal for DeSantis’ support.

DeSantis doesn’t fit. He fought against election fraud and that’s not something It’s going to be tolerated. Time to axe him.

You’re right. He’s agains election fraud. Florida has the cleanest elections in the country. Are you opposed to that?

"DeSantis is not a MAGA man."
He seems to be doing everything right as our governor to make Florida great.

If that happens, DeSantis better leave his high heel boots at home.

The test for me is whether or not they are afraid to address the elephants in the room:

1) the stolen 2020 election.
2) the January 6 frame up
3) the ongoing law-fare/election interference.

These three conspiracies should have all patriotic Americans, and certainly all Republicans, outraged.

If a man can’t bring himself to admit these things happened, call them what they are, and express outrage over them - he has no business being anywhere near team Trump. Period.

I’ve never heard DeSantis admit these conspiracies happened much less express any outrage. And by turning a blind eye, he is essentially calling President Trump a liar and reinforcing every false allegation the Democrats have made against Trump and MAGA.

As far as I’m concerned he can go f himself.

Both are citizens of Florida. The 12 Amendment to the Constitution would mean that the electors from Florida (a state that Trump will need) would be subject to being disqualified.

I actually like that. But Republicans and Trump don’t like it.

As someone with residences in multiple states, not a problem for Trump.

https://www.history.com/news/can-the-president-and-vice-president-be-from-the-same-state
[But if an election turns out to be particularly close, the rule could potentially come into play. It almost did in the notoriously contentious election of 2000. When Texas Gov. George W. Bush chose Dick Cheney as his running mate on the Republican ticket, Cheney had been living and voting and paying taxes for five years in Texas. Shortly before the election, however, Cheney obtained a Wyoming driver’s license and put his Dallas home on the market. (He had a vacation home in Wyoming, which is the state he had formerly represented in the U.S. Congress.)]

DeSantis is a great governor. If Trump were not running for certain he’s the guy. Hope he runs in 2028.

desanctimonious is just trying to worm his way back into good graces with Trump....

Before he stabs Trump in the back again, so he can be the republican presidential nominee....

There’s no reason anyone could trust anything desanctus says, because, considering how often desantis has lied about things...

How can you tell if desantis is lying again, or actually telling the truth?

He could, but surrendering Mar-a-Lago as his primary residence could be a dangerous move.

Florida has laws that protect a primary residence in litigation.

AG DeSantis might be a better spot, particularly as Ron DeSantis has proven himself a capable fighter.
