So, there you have it, folks. The question ‘How can people support this coalition?’ is easily and disturbingly answered: ‘they support democracy only when it suits them.’

SAN FRANCISCO — In one of the nation’s largest displays of support for gay rights, tens of thousands of people in cities across the country turned out in support of same-sex marriage on Saturday, lending their voices to an issue that many gay men and lesbians consider a critical step to full equality. The demonstrations — from a sun-splashed throng in San Francisco to a chilly crowd in Minneapolis — came 11 days after California voters narrowly passed a ballot measure, Proposition 8, that outlawed previously legal same-sex ceremonies in the state. The measure’s passage has spurred protests in California...

Olney started out originally with Lurker Bill, Cindy_True_Supporter, []Mrs] T and myself. Then the faithful D.C. Chapter members were able to clear their schedule to help out. They supported the Olney FReep even after spending Friday night at Walter Reed, thru wind, rain and cold. SIDEBAR: Neither Olney or Walter Reed has had a serious snow fall while we FReeped. Hope our good luck continues. We even had two FReeps in Olney on one day to throw the moonbats into confusion (not hard to do). As the Legionnaires started to come out, the FReepers got a break. Not long ago,...

Just 4 days after the Election, the moonbats were putting politics before our Troops. We support the Troops, they say, but do they really? We thought for sure there would be a whole swarm of them, but only 3 showed up. I suppose the rest were too busy celebrating the defeat of America. Brad Brown had no sign, other than a big peace sign on his shirt. The older moonbat had his sign “War is not the answer”. Howard Stern look-alike was there dressed in upscale clothing and guess what sign he was holding? An Obama/Biden sign. Gloating when your...

I put up the Olney AAR late this week to keep all the political threads from covering it up. The MODs did their best to keep the political crap out of the Activism/Chapter, but alas, they couldn’t. A THANKS to the MODs for what they did before getting swamped. Second, I want to Thank BufordP for a GREAT Olney AAR last week. It received almost 600 views after being buried by crap political threads in the first day it was up. We had a new Legionnaire show up today - George, Army, Vietnam, early 60s. While he said that he’ll...

At least five people were arrested across the city after Barack Obama's rally in Grant Park, including a woman who slapped a Chicago police officer, saying police couldn't arrest her anymore, prosecutors said today. Most of the others celebrated the historic occasion with gunfire. Celita Hart, 19, stood silently in court today when she appeared for a bond hearing. Prosecutors said Hart, who is black, yelled " 'White [expletive], [expletive] McCain--you white police can't do nothing anymore.'" With that, she reached through the window of a squad car and slapped a white male officer in the face, according to Assistant...

I volunteered at the McCain rally today in Indianapolis. I ended up at the front, alongside the "corridor" between the tarmac and the stage. We saw the entire entourage: Senators Graham, Lieberman, and Martinez; Cindy McCain, Megan, and of course, The Mack! They all looked great. Perhaps a little tired around the eyes, but this is not a loser's tour. Those people were all energized and upbeat. None of it was a put-on, either. Their smiles lit up their faces. John McCain looks much better working a crowd than he does on a stage. He clearly is comfortable when he's...

This morning, the silver-tongued orator, Barack Obama told a Jacksonville, Florida audience that the Republicans were spending huge sums of money against him, “here in Ohio.” He was resoundingly booed. He must have been off his script for a moment. It brings up an interesting and consistent issue - that whenever Obama is off his script, we get an entirely different person, a man who thinks there are 57 or more states, a man who thinks Pennsylvanians are bitter and cling to their guns and God out of xenophobia, a man who wants to spread your wealth around to pay...

CORAL GABLES (CBS4) ― Just one day before voters will decide on their next president, an invigorated John McCain rocked the house at a post-midnight rally on the University of Miami Campus in Coral Gables, in a speech aimed heavily at Miami's Hispanic community, with a promise that he would continue to fight and win the presidency on Tuesday. "We gotta have all of our rallies at this time of night, I'm telling you," he said to thunderous applause from the crowd that gathered under the banner "Estamos Unidos", Spanish for "We're United". Many had been waiting at the BankUnited...

One thing the organizers did right - they brought in TWO cranes to fly the flag high: It was so hot and the sun was just killing us. My son took to laying on the ground so he could get some shade from me: For some reason, they like to pile oranges up wherever Sarah goes in Florida: Various crowd shots: The West Port High School color guard presented the colors: This third grade class sang a tribute to the armed forces: Congressman Rick Keller: Congressman Cliff Stearns: The truth of this sign is undeniable: Sarah and Todd enter the...

Obama rally angers Union shopkeepers: At least some of the store owners along Union Avenue are unhappy that the 3 p.m. Obama rally will hurt business. (Pueblo Chieftain, The (CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Nov. 1--Hank Cervantes, owner of the Military Surplus store on Union Avenue, isn't going to open his store today. He said the Secret Service has made it almost impossible to stay open for business during the hours before and during the Sen. Our 1-year Anniversary in Westminster wasn’t what we hoped for; nevertheless, it wouldn’t deter the 6 of us from enduring the wind and rain. PatrioticMarineMom and her son (Adam), Lurker Bill, Anomoly99, My Hero (Chris) and I stood together in solidarity. We were wishing to celebrate with some of the wonderful people and groups that came out to join us on our very first FReep/Rally but it wasn’t meant to be. That’s ok because we do this for our brave troops and they certainly can’t choose their conditions. LEESBURG, LOUDON COUNTY, VIRGINIA— Tito Munoz, a dark-haired, muscular building contractor in khaki work clothes, steel-toed boots, a yellow hardhat and sunglasses, is striding back and forth, beckoning the crowd to ramp up the cheering. We had been cheering sporadically since before daybreak as we waited for Sarah Palin, scheduled to speak at 10 AM here in Leesburg, northern Virginia — a traditionally “red” area lately tipped towards blue by DC commuters and an influx of immigrants. Speculation about who would introduce Sarah Palin ran from Elizabeth Hasselbeck, who had done so the day before in Florida, to Fred Thompson,...

Kissimmee (Orlando) FL - - Portraying harmony like never before, Bill Clinton hailed Barack Obama on Wednesday, a power pairing designed to inspire Democrats already smelling victory. "Barack Obama represents America's future, and you've got to be there for him next Tuesday," Clinton, with Obama at his side, said to the cheers of a partisan crowd. Heaping praise on President Bush's predecessor, Obama said of Clinton: "In case all of you forgot, this is what it's like to have a great president." Obama even prodded the crowd to cheer more, saying "Bill Clinton. Give it up!" And there was Clinton,...

Look in later today for our On the Road piece from Wilmington, North Carolina. We're a bit ahead of our coverage, which occasionally happens out here with the long distances, input, output and timing demands. Tonight we'll be at the Obama-Clinton rally in Kissimmee, Florida, and we're breaking in from Miami, where John McCain just concluded his "Joe the Plumber" rally at Everglades Lumber. After the rally, we witnessed a near-street riot involving the exiting McCain crowd and two Cuban-American Obama supporters. Tony Garcia, 63, and Raul Sorando, 31, were suddenly surrounded by an angry mob. There is a moment...

Students for Barack Obama held an "Unwelcome Wagon" demonstration when vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin rolled onto Shippensburg University's campus Tuesday. A handful of students and alumni lifted signs and cheered for Barack Obama while thousands of John McCain supporters lined up across the street for hours, waiting to see Palin speak in Heiges Field House. (snip)The pro-Obama gathering was small when it began around noon but had grown into a small mob by the end of the rally, peaking at around 50 naysayers at 4:30 p.m. to include non-students as well.

Folks, I just returned from an amazing rally at Shippensburg University, featuring Governor Palin and her husband Todd. What can I say, but "Wow!" The cameras do NOT do this woman justice and she knows how to command a big audience. Her personal charisma is simply unearthly. Just to recap my personal experience: I had arrived on site at about 1:30 this afternoon. The university had done a great job in organizing the event, with easy parking and clear instructions about where to go and what to do. After finding the line, I began my hour and a half wait....

Wall Street made another big late-day move Tuesday, barreling higher and lifting the Dow Jones industrials more than 700 points as bargain hunters, buying in anticipation of a Federal Reserve rate cut, grabbed stocks that have been pounded lower in recent sessions. All the major indexes were up at least 6 percent. Investors looked past news of a sharp drop in consumer confidence, instead focusing on expectations that the Fed will cut its fed funds rate by half a point to 1 percent on Wednesday

I just want to share my memories of the Sarah Palin rally today in Kissimmee, Florida. My mom and dad and I left Daytona Beach today around 9AM and made our way to the event, where we were joined by my friend Olga. ... Refuse to Release the Video! LA Times writer Peter Wallsten wrote about Barack Obama's close association with former Palestinian operative Rashid Khalidi back in April.Wallsten discussed a dinner held back in 2003 in honor of Khalidi, a critic of Israel and advocate for Palestinian rights.Barack Obama has denied his close association with Khalidi, too. According to Wallsten the evening not surprisingly turned into a classic Jew-bash: "During the dinner a young Palestinian American recited a poem accusing the Israeli government of terrorism in its treatment of Palestinians and sharply criticizing U.S. support of Israel. If Palestinians cannot secure their...

ORMOND BEACH -- With the smell of sawdust in the air and planks of wood stacked around him, Republican presidential candidate John McCain hammered his tax cut promises and his opponent's encounter with ''Joe the Plumber,'' referencing the now famous ''spread the wealth'' remark more than half a dozen times at a morning lumberyard rally. McCain's rally at Allstar Building Materials in Ormond Beach was the first leg of McCain's ''Joe the Plumber'' bus tour, named for Ohio plumber Samuel Joe Wurzelbacher, who was catapulted onto the national stage following the last presidential debate when McCain used an encounter between...

Tennessee senator Fred Thompson (R) stopped by the McCain-Palin headquarters in Henderson to say thanks to supporters and volunteers Tuesday afternoon. The former Republican presidential candidate and part-time TV and movie actor was quick to give praise to his former rival, GOP presidential candidate John McCain. “Has there ever been a choice more stark than the one we have this coming election?” Thompson said. “Here you’ve got the most liberal and inexperienced candidate the party has ever put up for president versus a fellow who has been involved in every major matter, foreign and domestic over the last 30 years.”...
