Gun sales reached record levels in Colorado in 2008, a spike many attributed to fears that Barack Obama's election will mean tougher firearms laws.

Background checks to clear buyers exceeded 200,000 for the first time in history. More than a quarter occurred after the Nov. 4 election.

At the Crossroads of the West-Gun Show of the Rockies on Sunday at an Aurora hotel, gun dealers and Second Amendment advocates alike said there is a direct relation between the election results and firearms sales.

Jimmy West of the Firearms Coalition of Colorado, a gun-rights group, said business has been noticeably more brisk in the wake of Obama's election.

If I may ask, if Coloradans were so concerned about their gun rights, then how in the world did Obama carry their state in November???

I know there are many conservatives in Colorado, but I can’t understand why it has been turning blue (going to Obama, a Democratic Governor and a Democratic Senator). Something’s not right there.

Either its:
For the last couple of decades, Colorado has been exploited by displaced leftists and that has proved to have a strong catalist affecting their faith in government and the press.
OR
The increased sales are just part of the change we all believe in....

From the article:

An analysis of the NRA claims in September by factcheck.org, which calls itself a nonpartisan group that monitors the accuracy of political statements, found that the NRA campaign "distorts Obama's position on gun control beyond recognition." and quotes several items from NRA ads to support this position.

Now, let's see what happens when Left-wing reporters supposedly do in-depth analysis to debunk supposed "myths".

A quick search of factcheck dot org results in the following excerpts. Sounds to me that the NRA is correct in their quoting of Osama.

1. A decade ago, while running for a seat in the Illinois Legislature in 1998, Obama responded to an Illinois State Legislative Election National Political Awareness Test and indicated that he would support action to "ban the sale or transfer of all forms of semi-automatic weapons." But he has not called for such a ban in recent years.

2. Obama does support permanent reinstatement of the so-called "assault weapons ban."

3. In 2004, the Chicago Tribune reported that Obama "backed federal legislation that would ban citizens from carrying [concealed] weapons, except for law enforcement," and quoted the then state senator as saying, "National legislation will prevent other states' flawed concealed-weapons laws from threatening the safety of Illinois residents."

4. In 2000, Obama was a cosponsor of SB 1614 in the Illinois state Senate. The bill sought to prohibit the transfer of more than one handgun in a 30-day period, with exemptions for federally licensed firearms dealers, military personnel, law enforcement officers and certain hunters. And in 2003, Obama voted in favor of HB 2579, a measure that would have made it illegal for someone to sell or give a person more than one handgun in a 30-day period

The National Rifle Association has attempted to portray Obama as a threat to gun rights...

Yes, they've always known he'd be elected POTUS, so they've been following him around for 10 years making sure he's recorded as voting anti-rights on every piece of firearms-related legislation that came before him. NRLC was doing the same thing to fabricate all those "make sure there's no abortion survivors" votes.

Whoo-Hoo! We’re #1! We’re #1! OK, maybe not, but 50,000 guns sales in 2 months ain’t a bad pace! We are a state of 4 million, so another 200,000 for the year and 50,000 rounding out the year isn’t so bad. I’d like to see 2 million gun purchases but the broken NICS system really gave sellers fits.

Liberals running away from high taxes and over regulation in California move to Colorado. Unfortunatly, they leave CA, then bring their ideology with them turning their new home into the same thing they left behind. Colorado is going through Californication. Very sad for Colorado.

One reason is that Coloradoans got a load of DemocRATs with their convention. Bunch of freaks and losers with a bevy of commies and malcontents. That is enough to make anyone run out and buy a firearm.

We ended up bugging out of Colorado in 2001. It was sickening how they changed our small town.

Speaking of Californians, there's a gun show on January 17th and 18th at the Cow Palace in San Francisco.

I don't care who y'are, this is funny: Just replace California with Massachusetts and Colorado with New Hampshire, and you have exactly what's going on on the east coast...

Northeastern Nevada. Unfortunately Reno and Las Vegas are full of liberal transplants and that's where the major voting population resides.

“by factcheck.org, which calls itself a nonpartisan group that monitors the accuracy of political statements”

factcheck.org is an Annenberg foundation creation. The same Annenberg that had Obama, Bill Ayers’ and his family, in charge of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and the subsequent Chicago Public Education Fund. Obama was on the board of both of those with Ayers and family. Annenberg gave out something like $100 million under their direction to mess with the public schools in Chicago, and still going with the CPEF, amongst other things I’m sure.
