LOS ANGELES -- A Missouri woman's daughter says her mother had wanted an Internet account shut down even before cruel messages were sent from it to a teenage neighbor who later committed suicide.
Sarah Drew says her mother, Lori, initially thought it was a good idea to use the account to create a fictitious boy to lure Megan Meier into an online relationship.

i think this mom is a creep, but she isn’t why this girl killed herself. the girl had problems and while tragic, the creepy mom isn’t responsible IMO.

but, i expect higher standards of adults, especially mothers where children are involved.

This "Mother" didn't give a damn before or after this girl killed herself because of this sicked and twisted scheme she concocted to intentionally hurt and humiliate her. She is very much responsible for this girl's death.And the worst part is that she hasn't even shown regret until she found out that she would be put on trial.

I don’t understand why they gave the assistant immunity for testifying. She was perhaps more at fault than the mother. The assistant was the one who sent the final, hateful message that sent this poor girl into despair.
This mother, her assistant, and the daughter are all despicable. I hope the three of them spend the rest of their lives as pariahs.

Yes, I don’t understand that either. In fact, I read a rather detailed article about this in the New Yorker and I don’t remember the assistant being mentioned at all.
But that was before anyone was charged, I think.
And why is this trial in LA?
This woman is some creepy dame though, and the assistant. I mean, who has time to do stuff like this?
There are some very demented people, just running around loose in this world.
Kids will do whatever: it is up to parents to prevent anything dangerous from happening. That’s our job.
The trial is in LA, because the charges have to do with the misuse of the site (or something to that effect), and that is where the company that owns the site is located.
Strange, I know.
