Palin: Yeah, She’s Running And Ready To Rumble!

I pretty well nailed Governor Palins strategy when she announced. Today there is little doubt to what she intends to do:
I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint, the former Republican vice presidential candidate wrote in a posting on her Facebook page. Palins spokeswoman, Meghan Stapleton, confirmed Palin wrote the entry.
One thing I did forget to mention in the previous post which is clear today - Palin is going to shove as much crow down as many arrogant, mouthy throats in the Political Industrial Complex as she can. And America will be cheering her on for the next decade as she does so. And she began today:
To the extent several websites, most notably liberal Alaska blogger Shannyn Moore, are now claiming as fact that Governor Palin resigned because she is under federal investigation for embezzlement or other criminal wrongdoing, we will be exploring legal options this week to address such defamation, Van Flein said in a statement. This is to provide notice to Ms. Moore, and those who re-publish the defamation, such as Huffington Post, MSNBC, the New York Times and The Washington Post, that the Palins will not allow them to propagate defamatory material without answering to this in a court of law.
The FBI reiterated that claim Saturday, telling the Los Angeles Times for a story Sunday that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was not investigating Palins activities as governor, a former mayor or in any other capacity.

I am now looking ahead and how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, Well, she better reconcile this statement with the following statement from her website:
We also slowed the rate of government growth...
Is she FOR government growth or AGAINST it?
Don't blow smoke up our butts, Gov. Palin.
We're not as stupid as Ubama voters who can't tell they're being played for fools when he says one thing one day and the complete opposite the next.
Good luck to you, though. You have my support. But you're going to have to continue to earn it.

The intense speculation and continued attacks on Sarah Palin are remarkable. As I put it to libs on huffington toast: if she is too stupid, unprepared and damaged to run for POTUS in 2012 then you would think libs would encourage her to run. They would build her up like the media did McCain in 2008.
But instead they are all out trying to destroy her. Think of this fellow Palin supporters (you probably already have): She just made a decision and announcement that would have killed the career of anyone else. Yest even today the MSM have stories with questioning headlines like : Palin setting up for 2012?
To: toddausauras
But instead they are all out trying to destroy her. She represents a normal life, The abnormals cannot handle it.
To: Ernest_at_the_Beach
Palin could easily become the next Reagan/Thatcher and the Libs know it. They are terrified of her so they keep on beating her down. Given the terror surfacing in the minds and hearts of the idiot Americans that voted for Obama, she can win. The bloom is off the rose and Obama is exposed for the fraudulent incompetent he actually is. 2010 will be very interesting. Once again, the GOP buffoon show may win by default!

Isn't that more or less what she said at her announcement? How does that mean she is running for anything?
She might just spend her time campaigning for other people who are running for office and try to help the Republicans pick up some House and Senate seats. This would add some national cohesion to some races which would otherwise be seen as local contests.
If this is supposed to be some sort of springboard to higher office, I'd say it's along the lines of McCain's suspending his campaign to pass the $700 Billion stimulus bill. Possibly mildly successful, but probably horrendously disastrous.

If she couldn't reduce the size of government in Alaska, how can she say she will reduce it in all of America?
Kind of reminds me of how Ubama campaigned on how he was going to solve all of America's problems when he couldn't even solve Chicago's problems.
I haven't done a search yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if Alaska has a smaller population than Chicago.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a Palin admirer. But not a worshipper. She better sort these things out ahead of time or don't say them at all.

She didn’t say NO government growth. She said LESS. As long as there are progressives in powerful places, government is going to be out of step. She is not Superwoman, and no politician will be able to fix it all. Slowing the rate of government growth is the first step to bringing about less of it which is certainly a start.

You’re straining at a gnat.
It is okay to trust but verify. But, to pretend that Sarah failed to fight against government just isn’t a fair assessment of her time in Alaska. Was she perfect? No. But far better than most out there. We will wait and see Sarah away from the governors seat and McCain’s handlers to see the real lady. I don’t think we will be disappointed.

We're not Ubama voters. At least I'm not. I don't know about the rest of you. Maybe some of you people believed Ubama when he campaigned on a platform of saving or creating 2.5 million new jobs. But not me.
Maybe some of you believe you have to lose 6 million jobs before you can create 150,000 new jobs. But not me.
Maybe some of you believe we have to increase the national debt by 4 trillion dollars before we cut it in half. But not me.

AJ really did some good work with the piece he wrote Friday:
Forget All The Palin Nonsense - She Running For President
******************************EXCERPTS*******************************
Published by AJStrata at 8:00 pm under 2010 Elections, Sarah Palin
Final Update: For all those who think a bold move is a handicap, that is why you are in the peanut gallery and Sarah Palin is the talk of the weekend across this nation. I send this especially to some armchair experts in the conservative blogosphere who scratched their heads and claimed Sarah made a mistake. Hate to say this folks, but the mistake is assuming Americans would agree with you - now that you are also part of the useless and inept political chattering class. We have seen years of experts hit DC and blow it on many fronts. Claiming Palin did not do what was best for her and Alaska because it doesnt fit some mold or theory or history is really assuming we know all we need to know about politics and people.
For all those who smear her with asinine conspiracy theories - the mirror is on you. For example, Irans revolution not withstanding, Andrew Sullivan sunk from an interesting political commentator to all out scum over Palin. His hate of her destroyed him, and left Sarah completely untouched and a sympathetic victim to Sullivans mad ravings.
And to the Palins. Good luck in life. I agree with the decision. Sarah had accomplished a lot, and the muck loving Sullivans in the world had made it nearly impossible to do more for Alaska. They have a Phyrric victory, but again, you can destroy something for the moment, but the act itself destroys you 100 times over.
I strongly hope Sarah will be back next year, building her Congressional base in 2010 that will lift her into 2012. I know she is wondering if it is all worth it. I can only give her this advice. Your son is in Iraq trying to make the world better for all of us. He is risking it all. All of our families will be suffering for decades to come if the Democrats are pulled from office for the ineptitude and failures. You too may have to sacrifice a lot for this country. But at least it will not be the same as those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the war on terror.

If she really wanted to “blow smoke up our butts” she would have said she had completely stopped government growth! She tells the truth, why do you have a problem with that. Last time I looked, Governors had to work with legislatures. They aren’t dictators like Obamie.. Pain actually respects the rule of law and the Constitution - of her State and the USA.

Preemptive my derriere. You’re just shooting your mouth off because Sarah has done nothing worthy of such a strike yet and has enough people piling on her without the Conservatives doing it as well.
Remember the Reagan doctrine - trust but verify. You’re forgetting the trust part. I know that is hard with politicians because precious few of them are worthy of trust at all. But we are never going to get perfect politicians because we will never get perfect people. We need to support those who show themselves to be conservatives and chuck them to the side when a pattern of behavior shows otherwise. The proof will be in what they do, not what they say. Until then, hold your tongue. If she screws up, grace is warranted to the extent that it becomes apparent that she isn’t who she portrayed herself to be. If that were to occur, then you would have all the ground you need to criticize and dismiss. In the mean time, support those you can and don’t just sit there and complain about imagined future deeds.

The only part of her strategy that is unclear is how she will maintain her high public profile. Mike Huckabee has made a shrewd move by having the show on Fox and he has somewhat changed some of the views he had held as governor of Arkansas.
Reagan was not in public office for six years when he ran in 1980, but he kept his profile up by having a weekly radio speech/coorespondence. She is going to have to have some type of outlet to the public on a regular basis. This part of the strategy has not been revealed yet, it will be interesting to see what it is.

You're right, government is MUCH harder to stop. More like changing course on an aircraft carrier.
Or, look at differential calculus. If you have a continuously differentiable function, you cannot have a change in sign of the second derivative without the first derivative passing through zero. And if the first derivative is itself continuously differentiable, if it starts out positive, it must decrease smoothly, to zero, and then become negative.
Tea parties (the original) and the like excepted.
Cheers!

To use your aircraft carrier analogy, that would be like the Admiral of the ship telling his crew, "Yes. We are headed straight for the huge pile of rocks but the good news is we are no longer at full throttle, we are at half throttle."
So that ship will take longer to hit the rocks but it will still hit them. Wonderful. Should the crew give him a standing ovation for that?

To use your aircraft carrier analogy, that would be like the Admiral of the ship telling his crew, "Yes. We are headed straight for the huge pile of rocks but the good news is we are no longer at full throttle, we are at half throttle." I suppose it's better than the Admiral who wants to put an afterburner on the ship though, isn't it? Or the Admiral who says "what rocks, full speed ahead!" You have to start somewhere, and while I agree it would be great to get some actual cuts to government, slowing the rate of growth is the best anyone could do under the earlier political climate.
In this economy though, I expect you'll soon see people running on the basis of making actual cuts in order to be fiscally responsible. Who would you rather have in that situation? Someone who will cut wasteful programs, or the standard liberal ploy of "we're out of money, cut the police and fire departments and empty the prisons!" I would argue that Sarah is already positioned to take advantage of running in such a climate.
The only way to really cut government is to elect people who will actually cut spending. One politician alone can't do it, but if she has millions of followers holding their representatives feet to the fire, or millions of people voting in representatives to help her. . .
